Williamson, OH – The Knox County School District plans to close its schools in 2018 because of budget cuts, the district’s president said.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports the district will close two schools, one of which is a high school.
The other will be an intermediate school.
Superintendent Brian Tumlin says the district has a long-term plan for its schools that include more teacher training and a new teacher development program.
Tumli said he is confident the district can make it work.
He said there will be a re-evaluation of the district as it goes through a restructuring.
The district is asking the state for $11.4 million in cash to close the schools in May.
