Posted November 03, 2019 09:24:24The kids school desk is being opened at a South Australian location and will feature desks and chairs for students to use.
The school desk will be a collaboration between the University of Adelaide, the University at Adelaide, Edison High School, the Adelaide Public Library, the National Education and Research Centre (NEARC), the Australian National University and the University College.
It will be the first school desk in South Australia to feature desks, chairs and chairs that are accessible to students from a distance.
“It’s great for students who have difficulty sitting still,” University of South Australia principal and principal of Edison, Professor Stephen Fagerson, said.
“We wanted to provide a place for students with a range of different learning needs to sit, which is something we’ve not been able to do with the school desk.”
The desk will have an on-board light that will give students a sense of privacy.
Students will be able to set their own size of desk and can adjust the desk to fit their individual needs.
Fagerson said students would be able use the desk for two weeks before they have to use it again.
He said it would be a “real step” for the school system.
“It will help to alleviate some of the stress that students feel in the classroom,” Fag, who is also Edison’s vice-president of academic affairs, said
